Kalastusta Tromssassa / Fishing at Tromsø
9. ja 10. päivä, 2.- 3.7.2011
Reissun yhdeksännen päivän vietimme Tromssassa, aamulla käveimme ostamassa illaksi liput kalastusretkelle jonka jälkeen kävelimme pitkän sillan yli ja menimme kaapelikärryllä tunturin päälle katselemaan maisemia. Lämmintä oli reilu kymmenen astetta ja sää oli muutenkin hieman pilvinen, kuitenkin reilun 400 metrin korkeudesta näkymät olivat mukavat taas kerran. Iltapäivä menikin lepäillessä ja syödessä, piti turvautua Burger Kingin antimiin koska reissaaminen Norjassa on aika kallista ja pikaruokapaikoista aterian saa noin 12 eurolla, normiravintolassa hinta on ainakin tuplasti kalliimpaa.
Illalla kuuden aikaan lähdimme kalastusretkelle, Signe I-nimisellä paatilla. Laiva oli rakennettu vuonna 1908 ja otti kyytiinsä 12 henkilöä, miehistö koostui yhdestä Arnt-nimisestä kapteenista. Arnt kertoi hieman laivan ja lähiympäristön historiasta matkalla kalapaikoille jonne ajelimme noin puoli tuntia jonka jälkeen kalastus alkoi. Kalastus oli helppoa, laskettiin ”viehe” pohjaan, kelattiin kuusi kierrosta jonkä jälkeen nyittiin vapaa ylös. Leena sai neljä kalaa ja yhden simpukan, itse sain kolme kalaa josta kaksi oli turskia ja yksi sei. Kun kalastus loppui, Arnt keitti kalat ja saimme illallisen tuoreesta kalasta. Retki kesti kolme tuntia jonka jälkeen suuntasimme hotellille nukkumaan.
Sunnuntai-aamuna jatkoimme matkaa Harstadin leirintä-alueelle, matkaa kertyi reilu 300 km ja maisemat eivät pettäneet taaskaan, tuntui että vuoret vain kasvoivat isommiksi. Leirintäalueelta otimme pienen mökin jossa on 4 sänkyä, keittolevy ja jääkaappi, hintaa 400 kruunua ja jatkoimme matkaa lähimpään ravintolaan. Lähistöltä löytyi pizzeria jossa oli maukkaat ja kalliit pizzat joista söimme puolet ja loput säästimme seuraavaksi aamuksi koska aamupalatarvikkeiden ostaminen sunnuntaisin on hankalaa koska kaupat on kiinni. Seuraavana päivänä jatkamme Lofooteille josta varasimme B&B majoituksen n. 30 km Å:sta.

We spent the ninth day of the trip in Tromsø, in the morning we headed to buy tickets for fishing trip later that day, after that we walked across a big bridge and took cable car to the fell. It was about 10 degrees celcius and little bit cloudy, but the view was nice as usual from 400 metres. Afternoon went by relaxing in the hotel and eating budget meal in the Burger King. In the Burger King one dinner costs about 12 euros which is only half what dinner costs in normal restaurant in here.
In the evening at six o'clock our wishing trip started. The boat was called Signe 1 and it was built in 1908. The boat took 12 person on board and it had a crew of 1 member, a captain called Arnt. In the way to the fishing places Arnt explained some history of the boat and Tromsø which took about half an hour. The fishing was easy, just put down your lure in the sea and when it hits bottom, wind six turns up and after that you just move your pole up 'n down. Leena did catch 4 fishes and one clam, I got 3 fishes: 2 cods and one saithe. After fishing Arnt boiled the fishes and we got fresh fish dinner. Fishing trip lasted about three hours and after that we went to the hotel and got some sleep.
In the sunday morning we continued our trip to Harstad Camping, the route was 300+ kilometres and scenery was really nice again, I think that mountains got little bigger again. In the camping we took little cabin which contained 4 beds, fridge and boiling plate and cost was 400 krones. After that we headed for a dinner and found this pizza place, pizza was good but expensive and we took other half of the for next mornings breakfast because shops are closed here on sundays. Next morning we countinue our journey to Lofotes where we have booked B&B for two nights, it's about 30 kilometers from Å.

Från Alta till Tromsø
8th day 1.7.2011
Kahdeksantena päivänä ajelimme Altasta Tromsaan, matkaa kertyi hieman päälle 400 km koska päätimme ajella tietä pitkin, kahden lautan kautta matka olisi ollut n. 100 km lyhyempi. Matkan puolivälissä alkoi satamaan vettä ja keli ei muutenkaan ollut kovin lämmin. Loppumatkasta kyytiläinen takapenkillä oli kylmissään ja aika äkäinen ja itseänikin hieman palelsi koska minulla oli pelkkä pitkä kerrasto ja suojapaita ajoasun alla.
Reissussa parasta ovat olleet maisemat, kun ylitimme Norjan rajan, maisema muuttui paljon jylhemmäksi, pohjoisessa maisema oli aika karua mutta kaunista, kun taas lähdimme etelään muuttui maisema vihreämmäksi, mutta myös vuoret muuttuivat korkeammiksi. Välillä meinaa olo tuntua pieneltä kun tien vieressä on monta sataa metriä korkea pystysuora seinämä. Tähän mennessä matkaa on kertynyt yhteensä n. 2500 km ja jäljellä on vielä n. 1900 km.
On the eight day we drove from Alta to Tromsø, the route was about 400 km long because we decided to avoid ferries, with ferries route would be 100 kilometers less. In the middle of our route it started to rain and air was also getting colder. At the end of the route, the lady on the passenger seat was freezing and angry, I also was bit cold because I had only one layer of clothes under my driving suit.
The best thing on this trip has been the landscapes, when we crossed border between Finland and Norway, the scenery changed much more mountanous. Landscape in the north is quite rugged but beautiful, then when we started to driving south, the landscape changed more greener but also mountains were getting bigger. Sometimes I'm feeling quite small when there's couple hundred meters high rock wall by the side of the road. We have now driven about 2500 km's and there's about 1900 kilometers left until we're back at home.

Alta ja Tromssa / Alta and Tromsø

Eilen suuntasimme Altaan. Altassa pakollinen kohde oli Altan museo, joka oli rakennettu kalliopiirrustusten ympärille. Ilmeisesti Altassa on ollut asutusta jo 6000 vuotta sitten ja vanhimmat kalliopiirrustukset olivat tuolta ajalta.
Illalla istuimme nuotiolla ja paistoimme makkaraa (makkara = pølse norjaksi). Nuotiolla oli muitakin: nuotiolla oli motoristeja Enontekiöltä ja Punkaharjulta, Itävallasta sekä eräs ruotsalainen pariskunta. Tutustuin ruotsalaiseen pariskuntaan, Andersiin ja Tinaan. Oli mukavaa jutella heidän kanssaan. Hassua oli, että Tina puhui minulle ruotsia ja minä puhuin hänelle englantia ja me molemmat ymmärsimme toisiamme. Tänään ajelimme hetken aikaa enontekiöläisten motoristien kanssa.
Tänään ajelimme Altasta Trommssaan. Ajomatka oli kirjaimellisesti aika jäätävä: matkalla satoi vettä ja tuuli. Kun pääsimme tänne, kaksi ensimmäistä hostellia, joihin yritimme, oli täynnä. Kun viimein löysimme majoitusta, ensimmäinen ajatukseni oli tehdä blogiin päivityksenä pelkkä lause ”Elämäni kauhein ajo”.
7th and 8th day, 30.6.2011-1.7.2011
Yesterday we headed to Alta. The place we hadto see at Alta was the Alta museum, which is built over rock drawings. Apparently there has been people in Alta for 6000 years, so the oldest drawings were from that time.
In the evening we sat by the camp fire and fried some sausages (pølse in Norwegian :D ). There were some Finnish motorists from Enontekiö, Punkaharju and Austria and one Swedish couple. I talked with the couple, Anders and Tina, for a long time, and I enjoyed it. IT was funny how I spoke English to Tina and she spoke me Swedish and yet we totally understood each other. Today we drove for a while with the guys from Enontekiö.
Today we drove to Tromsø. The way was literally quite cold: the weather was windy and raining. The first two hostels we tried to get in were full. When we finally got roof over our head, the first thing I thought to post our blog was the sentence ”Worst daytrip of my life”.

Keskiyön aurinko / Midnight sun
5. ja 6. päivä, 28.-29.6.2011
Eilen (28.6) ajelimme Euroopan pohjoisimpaan kolkkaan, olemme tällä hetkellä Magerøyan saarella, jossa sijaitsee myös Nordkapp. Yövymme läheisessä Honnigsvågin kylässä hostellissa.
Ajoimme tänne Lakselvin kautta. Eilen ajellessamme tänne ajoimme n. 7 kilometriä pitkän tunnelin läpi, jonka matalin kohta on noin 200 metriä merenpinnan alapuolella. Tunneli oli pitkä, kylmä, meluisa ja mielestäni myös pelottava.
Tänään (28.6) kiipesimme Anssin kanssa Honnigsvågissa olevan pienen tunturin huipulle. Kävellessämme tuuli aivan hirveästi, välillä eteenpäin meno oli vaikeaa. Illalla ajelimme Nordkappiin. Se oli melkoinen turistirysä. Tarkoituksenamme oli nähdä keskiyön aurinko, muta taivas oli melko pilvinen siellä ollessamme. Aurinko näkyi vain hieman. Pois tullessamme näimme kylläkin keskiyön jälkeisen auringon :)
Illalla jäin vielä suustani kiinni erään hollantilaisen naisen kanssa. He olivat miehensä kanssa menneet päivällä kovan tuulen aikaan moottoripyörillään
nordkappiin ja n'hneet matkalla kaksi tuulenkaatamaa motoristia. Onneksi silloin ei tuullut kun mentiin Nordkappiin. Tuulta täytyykin varoa. Seuraavana vuorossa Alta.

Edit. Kuva keskiyön auringosta: Aurinko pilkahti vähän pilven raosta hetkeksi. Merellä näkyy pienenä Hurtigrutten risteilyalus joka kuitenkin on aika iso laiva.

5th and 6th day, 28.-29.6.2011
Yesterday (28.6.) we drove to the northernmost place in Europe. At the moment we're at Magerøya island,(on which there is also North Cape). We're staying at a hostel in a village called Honningsvåg.
We came here via Lakselv. We came to this island through 7 km long tunnel, the deepest place of the tunnel is about 200 m below sea level. The tunnel was long, cold, noisy and scary.
Today (29.6) we climbed to a small fell in Honningsvåg. While climbing, the wind was absolutely awful. We also went to North Cape to see the midnight sun but the sky was quite cloudy. Yet we managed to catch a glimpse of it.
After North Cape in the hosel yard I had a long talk with a woman from Netherlands. She and her husband are driving with motorbikes to the russian border. They went this afternoon to North Cape and they saw two motorist that had fell down due the wind. Thank goodnees it was almost still when we went to see North Cape. It seems you have to be careful because of the wind. Next: Alta.

Edit. Picture from North Cape: sun was partly visible but not too long. You can notice Hurtigrutten Cruise Ship in the sea, it looks pretty small, but it's quite large ship.

A couple of pictures
There are so much nice views in the route, but we can't stop everywhere to take pictures. That's why I'm wearing helmet camera and I'm taking video clips from interesting places. When we get home, I'll try to compose nice 'n short summary from the clips. But here's couple pictures from yesterday: Ifjord camping.

Komeita maisemia ja uusia tuttavia / Beautiful landscapes and new friends

Tänään ajelimme Ivalosta melko suoraan Norjan rajalle ja rajalta suoraan Kirkkoniemeen. Meille kerrottiin, erttä maisema muuttuu miltei heti rajan jälkeen, mutta en uskonut muutoksen olevan aivan niin jyrkkä mitä se oli oikeasti. Kirkkoniemessä kävimme sotamuseossa, joka oli kyllä ihan käymisen arvoinen paikka.
Kirkkoniemestä matka jatkui rannikkoa pitkin Ifjordiin, jonne jäimme yöksi. Matkalla maisemat olivat komeita: tie meni välillä tunturin laelta ja välillä rantaa pitkin. Tunturin laella oli jopa lunta. Maisemia on vaikea kuvata sanoin.
Ifjordissa olimme mökissä yötä. Naapurissamme oli brasilialainen mies nimeltään Aurelio, joka oli pyöräilemässä Norjaa. Tutustuimme häneen ja juttelimme hänen kanssaan parin tunnin ajan illalla. Mukava jamppa. Hänen matkablogiaan voi seurata osoitteessa http://atmagalhaes.wordpress.com .

Today we drove quite straightforwardly from Ivalo to Norwegian border and from the border straight to Kirkenes. We were told that the landscape will change just when we across the border, but I didn't really think that it would change that much. In Kirkenes we went to a war museum, which was a small one but rather nice place to visit.
We travelled from Kirkenes by the coastline to Ifjord and we stayed there for the night. The road went over the fells and sometimes by the coast – you cannot describe the landscapes with words. In the top of the fells there were even snow.
We stayed in a cabin at Ifjord. Our next door neighbour was a brazilian man named Aurelio. Aurelio is bicycling in Norway. In the evening we talked with him for a couple of hours. He was a nice guy. Aurelio also keep a travel blog, his blog can be found at http://atmagalhaes.wordpress.com .
